Massage Therapist Job
Massage therapy is the therapeutic use of hands , elbows or feet on the body which helps relieve physical or emotional problems .
Massage improves the flow of blood and lymph fluid and helps to eliminate waste products from the body . It's useful for specific ailments such as depression, neck and back pain, and insomnia.
When the body is touched , receptors in the skin send messages to the brain causing the release of chemicals such as endorphins. These produce a sense of relaxation and well being and can help relieve pain .
Therapies are normally performed directly on the skin. Clothing is usually removed for a full-body massage, although underwear can be worn if the client prefers. Towels cover the areas not being massaged and help to keep the body warm.

Courses that prepare you as a massage therapist usually involve a minimum of 100 to 150 hours which is based on theoretical study, treatments observed by an assessor or tutor, and a written exam.

A massage therapist can be found in many outlets such as beauty salons, health spas and fitness centres. Some positions are available in a healthcare environment such as a hospice or complementary medical centre. Some offer a service in clients homes or workplaces or it is possible to work from home.
To take on a qualified massage therapist job is not easy. The training is detailed with both written and practical exams at the end , the work itself can be surprisingly tiring for the practitioner. The financial rewards are not great and in order to accomodate clients , unsociable hours often have to be worked. A massage therapist really does need dedication and the ability to make your client feel at ease.
